NAD is pleased to announce the launch of the C 538, an affordable, high performance CD player engineered for musicality and simplicity true to the brand's proud tradition. Replacing its predecessor, the highly popular NAD C 516BEE, the C 538 will be available in early April with an MSRP of $299.
The C 538 features a Wolfson 24-bit/192kHz DAC to provide accurate linearity and dynamics and offers a choice of Coax or Optical digital outputs. Audio specific OP Amps assure accurate musical sound while standby power consumption is reduced to a trickle (<0.5 watts), saving energy while still allowing full function remote control.
Multi-layer PCBs using surface mount components allow for an enhanced circuit layout with very short signal paths. Powering these elements is a custom designed active power supply that provides multiple regulated voltages to the transport, digital circuits, analogue circuits, and the control and display circuits. The result of this careful engineering is a sound that is at once both detailed and natural, with dramatic dynamic contrasts.
A marvel of engineering prowess, the C 538 is crafted with heavy gauge steel and non-resonant plastic moldings to form a solid mechanical foundation for smooth, reliable operation while minimizing vibration and tracking errors. The new industrial design of the C 538 imparts a sleek new profile to the Classic NAD face and complements many NAD integrated amplifiers.
