Following their introduction at CEDIA EXPO 2019, PSB Speakers is pleased to announce the immediate availability of three all-new CustomSound models ‐ the CS AIC 860 (MSRP $649), an angled in-ceiling speaker for the performance-minded CI installer, the CSIW SUB28 (MSRP $999) dual 8" in-wall subwoofer for both new and retrofit applications and the CS 500W (MSRP $1199) dedicated subwoofer amplifier.
The CS AIC 860 premium 2-way angled in-ceiling speaker features a 6 ½" woofer with carbon-filled polypropylene cone, rubber surround and a proprietary 1" titanium dome tweeter. Perfect for high performance home theater applications, the listener experiences a wide and consistent sound field which seems to emanate from the chosen listening area rather than from the installation point. The CS AIC 860 combines a pivoting tweeter with wave guide, angled woofer, frameless round and square grilles, individual adjustment level switches for both tweeter and woofer along with high strength doglegs for easy installation and removal.
The CSIW SUB28, the first of three new CI subs, is a sealed cabinet passive subwoofer with dual 8" high performance drivers capable of delivering detailed low frequency performance. Equipped with heavy duty nylon dog-ears, and a magnetic small perforation grille, the CSIW SUB28 is versatile, easy to deploy and a cornerstone of audio system design. It is perfectly mated with the CS 500W dedicated subwoofer amplifier.
The CS 500W, pictured below, is a digital 500-watt subwoofer amplifier that delivers ample power for up to two PSB subwoofers in parallel. The DSP is capable of being calibrated to several selectable EQ settings as well as containing profiles tailored for the PSB subwoofers. A built-in limiter circuit filters the incoming information and keeps it from driving the subwoofer beyond safe operating parameters. It can be powered up by several means including signal sensing and 12 volt trigger and occupies just 1U of rack space.
